CURVED WOOD
A family born from capturing the soft sepals from the Magnolia plant.
A process developed from hand forming timber, into soft curves, the edges feathered back, for delicacy.
Each sepal is individually cut and shaped.
Ready for the next stage where either hand made gesso is applied, or a finish to contrast the outer and the inner with dyes and wax.
With gesso 3-4 coats are applied, this takes a day or so to dry before it can be sanded back, to give an eggshell like finish, revealing some of the process.
Beeswax for the final finish to give a slight sheen.
Each sepal is carefully placed for balance by individual brass rods, bent and shaped to carry these forms.
Delicate, the light and shadow playing on the shapes, the gold topped lamps help stop the glare from underneath and allow more light to filter through.
Single or in groups always ethereal.
Hand made from curved wood, which is shaped and sanded back to a feathered edge.
Each petal unique.
The pendant light has 4 petals on solid brass fittings.
A solid brass SES lamp holder - we recommend a gold topped SES lamp.
A solid bras rod.
2 metres of linen flex

Each petal is hand curved and then cut and shaped, sanded back for feathered edges, from wood.
Here there are 6 petals, each individually curved and carved, then sanded back.
2 petals per brass ring.
Outside stained black for a matt charred wood and inside a warm mahogany wax, polished to a slight sheen .
The warmth of the inner polished wood, adds to the warm glow from the light.
Light leaks through the overlapping petals.
A very organic and calm light.
