Treated Scallop tea light Sconce

The Shell Wall Light is a distinctive lighting piece designed to house a tea light, crafted in hand-polished brass paired with either a treated Scallop shell or a Native Oyster Shell. This work embodies a philosophy of honouring nature's finest forms, integrating organic beauty into functional design.

The asymmetrical, mirrored polished brass back not only serves as a striking visual element but also enhances the candlelight's reflection, creating a warm and inviting glow.

The design process began in 2020, initially focused on scallop shells treated to achieve a soft, chalky finish. More recently, the collection has expanded to include ancient oyster shells sourced locally from the historic Norfolk Oyster beds. Each shell is carefully selected and treated, then handcrafted in Norfolk to ensure quality and authenticity.

These wall lights are versatile in use, available for traditional tea lights or as wired fixtures operating at 240v. Additionally, they can be made with an IP44 rating, rendering them suitable for use in bathrooms where moisture resistance is essential.

Each Shell Wall Light is a celebration of natural materials, craftsmanship, and sustainable design, reflecting the ethos of independent, UK-based production with a focus on handmade quality and circular design principles.
